THE SEVEN LAWS OF NOAH

1. BELIEVE IN ONE GOD
Do not worship the false gods of pleasure. This law is all about unity consciousness, recognizing that God is the unity, the highest essence, behind all things and all people. God is everything and no thing. But people make false gods in their lives out of many different external things, such as wealth, sex, drugs, food, status, whatever. Keep your attention focused on our Highest Source, from which all good things flow.

2. RESPECT GOD AND PRAISE HIM

Be humble. Since God is everywhere and in everyone, God reveals the Divine Will and Plan in everything that happens. That’s why people say, “There’s a reason for everything.” We are only a part of it, not the center. When we surrender our own ideas about how things should go, we open ourselves to seeing God’s purpose, which always works for the highest good of all creation. Problems can become opportunities when you live with meaning in your life.

3. RESPECT HUMAN LIFE
Do not hurt or kill. Our bodies’ animal instincts can run wild, manifesting as anger, pride, envy and lust, which hurt others and eventually ourselves. But as humans, we are capable of making better choices. If we truly believe that God or a Higher Power runs the universe, there’s no need to hurt others in order to help ourselves. All is as it should be according to the Divine Plan. Disrespecting others’ boundaries only causes them to treat us the same way, creating disorder and chaos. Respect is simply recognizing others’ rights to be and to live as they see fit.

4. RESPECT THE FAMILY
Human society is based on the natural relationships that make us a part of the network of life. A child’s first sense of right and wrong comes from the family. When the family breaks down, individuals suffer and so does society. It’s important that we respect our parents and our spouse and that our children learn to respect us. It’s also vital that parents learn to respect their children as free, individual beings who have their own destiny and responsibilities. We all have a role to play in this world. The family helps us determine ours.

5. RESPECT OTHERS’
RIGHTS AND PROPERTY

Do not steal or damage. Besides others’ bodies, we also must respect their property and all their rights as a human being. It took time, effort and energy for them to accumulate whatever they have and to become what they are. If we somehow take from them what was theirs, it’s our responsibility to repay them and to replace what they lack because of us. There is no escaping this law. It will always come to collect from us in one way or another. It’s better that we address the situation immediately by somehow making reparations. Otherwise the debt builds interest.

6. CREATE A RIGHTEOUS
JUDICIAL SYSTEM

Pursue justice and truth in all you do. There are really only two laws which are the basis of the whole common law system that underlies human society:
1) Do whatever you have promised to do. 2) Do not infringe upon the person or property of others. All other laws proceed from these two principles. They are the basis of all peaceful and respectful human interaction. If we keep our word and respect others, we are righteous and all will be right with us.

7. RESPECT ALL CREATURES
Be kind to all things. There are four kingdoms in creation, each perceiving at its own level: human, animal, plant and mineral. God’s Life Force flows through each to sustain it. If we treat everything around us, human, animal, plant and mineral as if it were a form of God, we will do well and creation will do well. This includes protecting our environment along with many other ideas. God has created everything out of nothing and is present in all things.
